The Storyboards on display here are from a feature film project I’m developing entitled Control Home. I drew these boards, applying a quasi-cartoony style to the character designs to help differentiate them in the various frames.
A funny thing happened as I proceeded with the drawing as the main characters took on much more stylized characteristics, in the end almost becoming cartoon depictions. When you’re drawing in excess of a thousand frames, it helps to streamline the process by stylizing the people in the images. It helps keep things clear and communicate the tone and emotion of a scene, while still providing real-world representations that can help a director, cinematographer and camera department, and all of the other departments involved, clearly understand the challenges before them.
